Little Cactus Daycare

A DAYCARE FOR CHILDREN 0-3 years of age:

Nurture Young Learners.

Our Mission

We strive to provide children in the program with the best foundation for later learning by encouraging individual curiosity and creativity as children discover and make sense of the world around them. We aim to provide a safe and healthy environment for children to develop physically, socially, and cognitively — their whole self. We strongly believe in the importance of a connection to the natural environment and fine arts education in developing compassionate, kind, and well-rounded children.

JANE SONG

Little Cactus South Daycare

Jane has had almost 20 years of work experience in community and private childcare. Every day, she is reminded of why she loves working with children as she observes them learn new things and share their world with her. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Preschool Education from Shanghai HuaDong University, an ECE Certificate, and a Montessori Infant Toddler Certificate. Currently living in Richmond with her husband and three kids, Jane enjoys cooking, reading, and walks in her free time.

VICKY LIN

Little Cactus Central Daycare

Vicky has worked in the ECE field for the past 24 years, beginning with JiGuan Kindergarten in GuangDong. Since moving to Canada, she has also taught at childcare programs in Richmond and Vancouver. Vicky earned her diploma of Early Childhood Education in 1993 and completed her Montessori program training in July 2010. In 2012, she received her Infant/Toddler Educator Ceritificate. Her goal is to teach with a passion for her subject so that children develop a desire to become life-long learners.

BLENDED PHILOSOPHY

Balance between explorative play and Montessori activities allow children to make discoveries and grow at their own pace. Through song, games, and activities, we make learning together fun.

FUN CIRCLE TIME

During two daily circle times, we teach children science, fine arts, early phonics, and math concepts, as well as movement skills that are suited to the child’s age and developmental stage.

Connection to THE Natural Environment

Ample outdoor play time, as well as natural science concepts weaved into monthly topics help children feel a deeper connection to their natural environment.

NUTRITIOUS MEALS and snacks PROVIDED

We provide a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day, in accordance with the Canadian Food Guide. Mealtimes are an opportunity to teach children about healthy living habits!

FROM PARENTS

We knew we picked the right daycare for our son when we see the smile on his face everyday.

The teachers are very helpful, knowledgable and genuinely interested in offering their best efforts and patience in working with all the kids at the school with bilingual (English and Mandarin) Montessori education. The communication and relationship between the teachers and the parents are top notch. The teachers are always there to help and often encourage kids with their work. Their encouragement has transformed my son to be very confident and positive. The environment is very well maintained, organized and clean with different nutritious, delicious lunch and snacks provided everyday.

This has been the best decision so far in my son’s education journey. I strongly recommend this school to anyone who is currently looking for a daycare. It is a real blessing and fortune for us to find such a wonderful daycare. Give Ms. Jane and Ms. Vicky a call to arrange a tour of the school. You will not be disappointed!
